Split ends who doesn't have them??
Would you believe that your hair extensions can get split ends? Yes its true. If you wear Virgin or Remy human hair, it is possible. Weaves that have the cuticle intact can have/get split ends. With Florida's bipolar weather flatironing your hair and keeping it straight may be a challenge! Trying to "get that model look" everyday can cause terribly split, dry and brittle hair:-(..........I thought that weave could withstand anything. Hmmmm, guess, I was wrong! After the heat styling I had to trim my weave hair because it looked limp and lifeless. If this happens with weaves, it can definately happen to your natural hair!
The Biggest culprit that helps us distroy our hair is............drumroll................HEAT, HEAT AND MORE HEAT! We all like our hair to look super sleek and silky and this of course is done through heat styling. Heat styling can be great but of course in moderation. You can fry the ends of your hair by using a flat iron or curling iron. Always pay close attention to your temperature. 400 is too high for everyday use! Turn it down to about 200 - 300 depending on hair texture and density. Don't forget to use a heat protector. Some of us use hair straighteners/ flat irons that do not have a setting. Make sure to check settings in your instructional manual of your flat iron to be sure of how hot it can get, to avoid damaging your hair. Its always best to purchase one with adjustable settings!
Last but not least, different styling tools and implements can help pull and snag your ends. Rollers, decorative combs, scrunchies, rubber bands, brushes, hair pins and/or bobby pins. Please use in moderation. I advise that you get a trim every 6 to 8 weeks. By doing so, you will ensure that your hair looks healthy, even and full of life!
